Buckeye Bound Scholarship

Although having met at Riverside High School, Matt and Charlie's friendship grew greatly at Ohio State. They were roommates their first year, studied together, and participated in extracurricular programs together. BuckeyeThon is an example of one of these programs. It is a student-led philanthropic effort to end pediatric cancer. Matt and Charlie fundraised for this 24 hour dance marathon following Charlie's sister, Emily, passing away from cancer.

Much of the value Matt and Charlie got from their time at OSU was involvement in student-led programs like these. The skills used to operate The Backpack Fund were learned in these settings. Applicants to this scholarship will search for two extracurricular programs that they intend to participate in during their time at OSU.

Scholarship Amount: $2,000

Eligibility requirements:

• 2026 graduate of a Lake County High School
• Attending The Ohio State University or regional campus during the Autumn 2026 semester
• Provide proof of enrollment if chosen as the recipient of the scholarship
